Central Minnesota PFLAG and Central Minnesota Women’s Shine are organizing together to create “Angela’s House”, a mental health crisis home for individuals in need.
Just over a year ago, Angela, a board member and member of the LGBTQ community, an activist and organizer deeply involved in many community initiatives and local politics took her own life. Angela struggled with her own mental health, yet dedicated much of her time finding crisis beds across the state for other LGBTQ individuals suffering with issues of self harm and suicidal ideation.
Angela’s house will provide outreach, support, safety, and warm beds for those living in crisis with their mental health. Angela’s House will be a safe space for the LGBTQ community, however, no one will be turned away due to sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
We are in the infancy stages of organizing this project. If you have an interest in getting involved please contact Dara Westra 320-492-8486 or Darrin Oswskey at 320-309-7262
